How do I keep a document useful as things change?
DAWKA (Documents As Working Knowledge Agents) keeps documents current through scheduled research, cited revisions, and updates you control.
What is DAWKA?
Give a brief, a research paper, or a plan an ongoing purpose. Its document agent can research changes, keep citations with the evidence, and propose a useful next version.
You set the direction, the maintenance schedule, and the budget. You also choose whether each section needs review before an update is published.
My work
I built the document model, templates, editor, and agent runtime around work that continues after the first draft. A document has a purpose; its sections have criteria, sources, and rules for how they can change.
The implementation connects a Vue editing interface to persistent document state in Cloudflare Durable Objects, with notes, citations, revisions, and a history of maintenance runs.
The problem: useful documents go stale
A market brief, a job search plan, or a purchase comparison can need attention long after it is written. Sources change, new information appears, and someone has to work out whether the document still holds up.
DAWKA puts that upkeep around the document itself: what to follow, where to look, what counts as a useful change, and who decides whether to keep it.
How it works
Give each section a job
Start with a blank document or a template. Shape its sections and set the criteria: what matters, what to leave out, and where the agent should look. Notes, files, and public sources supply context for the work.
Schedule research with limits
Give the document a maintenance rhythm and a budget. The agent researches changes and keeps citations connected to the proposed content, so there is evidence to inspect when reviewing an update.
Choose what changes
Sections can stage revisions for review. You can accept or reject a proposed update, or explicitly allow selected sections to publish directly. Scheduling the research and granting permission to publish are separate choices.
What you can make
The current template collection includes a competitive landscape, a job search, and a buying comparison. Each starts with a different purpose and a set of sections to maintain.
Documents start blank or from a template. AI-assisted initial drafting is not available yet; the agent’s role is researching and maintaining the document over time.
